What. A. Year.
I’ve known for some time that this blog post in particular was going to be a rough one for me. I (like many people) have had one of the most difficult years of my life. It felt like 10 years worth of pain and anxiety bundled into one year. I’m going to try keep this light, but I also want to share a true reflection of my year.
2020 was set to be the best year in my business. I had 23 weddings booked. That was 5 over my goal and 3 over my max. What can I say? I can’t say no!
I shot 11 of those weddings I had booked…
Now, that’s not to say I didn’t love every single wedding. I just wanted to give a small glimpse into what this year looked like in the event industry. This was a heartbreaking year for a lot of couples, and a lot of small businesses.
I was lucky that most of my clients were able to reschedule for 2021. I’m so excited to celebrate with them. I hope and pray that this is easier next year!
2020 wedding planning was hard.
I started wedding photography because I loved the flurry and excitement of a wedding day. I cry during your father/daughter dance and your vows give me goosebumps. The emotions and the meaning of your wedding day didn’t change.
We’re wearing masks, but it feels the same.
I was able to completely redo my website and work with a copywriter (shoutout to Moongaze Copy) who helped me with the part of my website I struggle with! Honestly, having that help seriously lifted my spirits, and made me feel so much better! It’s like taking a deep dive into why you love what you do. It felt like therapy. I only cried once while talking about how much I love my clients, okay. Just once.
The 11 weddings I shot are some of my most absolute favorite days of this year. Seriously, each and every one of you mean so much to me <3
I gained a new niece and a sister-in-law!
We gained not one, not two, but THREE dogs! They’re amazing and I’m so glad I was able to talk my husband into one, which he then talked me into a PUPPY.
We got a new car (which I’m still having a bit of buyer’s remorse, but what can you do?!)
I got a new camera!
And last, but not least as added by my husband, we survived.
Now for the fun stuff! Take a look at some of my most favorite photos from this year! These aren’t even half of the photos I wanted to include, but there’s like 250 already, so I had to contain myself and cut back. Which was super hard!
One last note, shoutout to all of my AMAZING second shooters this year who helped me in so many ways (especially my girl Margaret!)
Thank you so muchhhhhhh! A few of my most favorites came from you talented ladies!
